Joseph (USA)

Meet Joseph

Joseph tells his story of growing up as a Mormon and priding himself on his religious deeds, but the Bible showed him he needed Jesus’ righteousness, freely available to him by believing in Jesus’ substitutionary death.

Joseph grew up in a Mormon home and took his religion very seriously. A former Mormon challenged Joseph while he was on missions to start over with the Bible and read it like a child.

Joseph shares how God opened his eyes while he read through the Bible. He came to understand that no-one can come to God and be saved by their religious deeds. Joseph repented of his self-righteousness and works, and trusted solely in God’s grace and Jesus’ death on the cross to pay the price for his sins.

Since becoming a Christian, Joseph has experienced alienation from his family who are still practicing Mormons. Nevertheless is passionate about helping people caught in religious systems understand the truth of the gospel, the depths of God’s love and the personal relationship on offer with Jesus Christ.

Deb and Dave (USA)

Meet Deb and Dave

Deb placed her faith in Jesus Christ as a child. When she met Dave as a young adult, Dave did not know God personally. Dave asked Deb if she would date him. She said no but redirected Dave to undertake a Bible study. Following the Bible study, Dave received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Dave and Deb got married and had children. They talk about how God helped them through a very difficult time when their son was seriously ill. Dave changed his job to become a pastor. He shares how grateful he is to God for all God has done in his life.

Steve (USA)

Meet Steve

Steve describes the tragedy of his mother dying while he was a baby, and his father’s alcoholism and inability to care for him and his siblings. As a young person, Steve developed an addiction to alcohol. His marriage failed and his life spun out of control. Steve remarried and he was invited to do a Bible study. The pastor explained the gospel in a way Steve could understand. Steve accepted Jesus’ work to make him right with God. Steve asked Jesus to take away his alcohol addiction, which Jesus did. Steve knows God can radically change a person with his power.

Matt (USA)

Meet Matt

Matt shares how his worry about hell pushed him to pray a prayer and ask God to save him when he was 12. God worked through circumstances to show Matt that he did not have a real relationship with Jesus, the way a family member did. It took time for Matt to accept that believing in the Trinity is not enough and will not save. God showed Matt that he had to receive Christ into his life and apply the gospel to his own debt of sin. Matt now encourages other to consider Christ, because he knows life can’t function rightly without Jesus.

God worked through the people around Liz to confront her, about whether she understood she was a sinner, and if she understood Jesus died for her. Liz saw her own sin and placed her faith in Christ. God has helped Liz move away from sinful choices in her life.

Terran (South Africa)

Meet Terran

Terran formed a friendship in his childhood with another kid, Nathan, who was a Christian. Terran knew early on that there was something different about Nathan which appealed to him. Terran’s father died during his teenage years and he talks about how Nathan gave him support while his non-Christian friends backed away. As their friendship deepened, Nathan asked Terran spiritual questions. Terran came to an understanding that a Christian is someone who personally receives Jesus. Terran trusted in Christ and now he is involved in ministry life with his friend Nathan.

Roger and Sharon (USA)

Meet Roger and Sharon

Roger shares that his father passed away while he was a boy. They both describe irregular church attendance as a young married couple. Roger knew the gospel but didn’t want to give his life to Christ. Sharon knew Jesus had died for her, but didn’t understand how to receive the gift of salvation. A pastor encouraged Roger and Sharon to place their faith in Christ. They responded and received Christ. Roger shares that his life priorities changed once Jesus became his Lord and Savior. He speaks of his happiness at knowing Jesus, and Sharon speaks of their happy marriage and the joy and comfort she has with the people God has placed in their lives.
